18th century "Pet en l'air" style sacque-back jacket with under-stomacher and reversible over-stomacher.
The Jean jacket is a shorter, thigh-length version of our "Mae" robe a la francaise and with a fully lined bodice to extend the wear of your garment. The "saque-back" style is recognized by the full, cascading pleats at the neck of the jacket. The jacket sleeves feature a delicate linen "engagement" or sleeve ruffle—a common 18th century ornament for this style of jacket.
The Jean closes in the front by a hidden "under stomacher" that is laced to fit. The reversible over stomacher is then pinned over top the laces to hide them from view. The over stomacher comes with an attached "tucker" or linen ruffle at the top for added elegance. Hidden Dirk's pet en l'air also features hidden back laces to completely customize the fit of your jacket.
Please note: This listing is for the jacket and reversible stomacher only. Shift and petticoat are sold separately. Stays are recommended for a period correct fit. We cannot guarantee this item will fit the modern 21st century physique without stays.
